Change the Instagram chat theme

The new chat theme feature on Instagram has different themes, colors & gradients that you can apply to your chat background. These settings are available on the chat details page, which can be accessed by clicking on the username above. Please note that the background theme will only be applied to the specific chat you are changing it for.

Now let’s talk about the options Instagram offers for the chat background. As of now, 11 themes are available based on different ideas and moods. For example, when you are talking to someone special, you can apply a theme called Love, which will add hearts and a pink color theme to your chat background. This will mix with the mood of your conversation. Apart from that, there are around 21 regular colors and gradients that you can apply to your Instagram chats as well.

  1. Open your updated Instagram app and go to DMs by tapping the new Messenger icon in the upper right corner.
  2. Now open each conversation where you want to change the chat topic.
  3. Here in the chat window, tap on the username of that person and it will open the chat details of the said chat.
  4. Now look for the Chat Theme option and tap on it.
  5. Here you will see different theme options like Love, Holloween, Tie-Die etc. Select your preferred theme and it will be applied in this chat.

Moreover, you can also change the colors of the accent. Select it from the theme selection menu by scrolling a little further and tapping on any color name.
